Concept & Technical Details
Content & Structure
The magazine is divided into four chapters, each approaching the topic of green cities from a different perspective:
Additional Design Elements
Experimental typographies were developed specifically for the chapter introductions and used to create visual distinctions between the different sections. The various design assignments were deliberately integrated into the overall magazine concept rather than treated as separate projects.
Creative Challenge
The main challenge was to bring together the different design tasks required for the project and connect them through a single overarching topic and visual language. The goal was to create a cohesive magazine in which editorial content, typography, advertising, packaging, and photography could work together as parts of one consistent design system.

Content & Structure
The magazine is divided into four chapters, each approaching the topic of green cities from a different perspective:
- 01 - Modern Cities: The first chapter examines current issues faced by modern cities, using Salzgitter, Germany, as an example of a city experiencing stagnation and demographic change. It also features a documentary about Salzgitter that I produced together with two other students, including a short making-of section.
- 02 - Green Cities: The second chapter introduces the concept of green cities and explores what defines a sustainable urban environment. It also presents several examples of cities implementing green strategies.
- 03 - Singapore: The third chapter focuses on Singapore as a case study, examining the city-state’s approaches and efforts towards creating a more climate-friendly urban environment.
- 04 - Design & Sustainability: The final chapter explores the role of design in creating a more sustainable future. It incorporates several additional design assignments into the magazine, including a sustainable nail polish packaging concept with a step-by-step making-of, an advertisement for the 25th anniversary of the Media Design degree, and an introduction to the Neue Helvetica typeface.
